Congressional Candidate Kia Hamadanchy Statement to Supporters on Katie Porter Primary Victory in CA-45

While the election results aren’t what we had hoped for I am proud of the campaign we ran and thankful for all of your hardwork and dedication. Over the past year you became more than just supporters; you became family.
This race has never just been about me. It’s been about building a movement to inspire progressives, immigrants, and people of color – the same groups of people who are responsible for the electoral shifts in Orange County – and it’s about energizing those who are fed up with the status quo here and in Washington, DC.
This campaign has also been about the issues. I’ll never back down in the fight for what’s right for working Americans. That’s why I was so vocal in my support for Medicare-for-All health care, debt-free education, a living wage, human rights, common sense gun laws, and combating global climate change. It’s also why I stood up for Dreamers and all immigrants under assault by this administration.
Over the course of this campaign we have knocked on tens of thousands of doors and made just as many phone calls, we’ve attended dozens of forums and rallies, and we’ve hosted multiple townhalls for the voters of the 45th district. All of that hard work that we put in together won’t be for naught. Our work helped build the foundation to Flip the 45th District and turn Orange County Blue. We did that together.
I want to congratulate Katie and the entire Porter Team on their victory. This has been a hardfought campaign and Katie has shown she has what it takes to get things done and win in November. I wholeheartedly support her candidacy and I hope each and every one of you will support the Porter campaign. I ask you now to either volunteer or donate at to help her just as you helped me.
This has been a long, hard fought campaign, but it’s just the beginning. Our mission does not end today and we must never lose sight of the end goal – a Congress that both resembles and represents the American people. Because of your work, we’ve taken steps in the right direction.
I’m proud to have stood with you. I hope I made you proud as well.
Tomorrow we go again,
